Auburn is known as the, “Loveliest Village on the Plains,” and Auburn University is the central hub of activity in the city of Auburn. For the Harrison College of Pharmacy, the interactions between our students, faculty, and staff are central to who we are. Starting a professional or graduate school can be intimidating, but at HCOP we want champion and encourage our students. Through our Villages, students (both Pharm.D. and graduate) have a ready-made system of peer and faculty mentors to help guide them through this life experience.

We organize these interactions in Villages. The HCOP has 14 Villages, two in Mobile and 12 in Auburn. Each Village is composed of four teams, and each team is composed of an approximately equal number of P1, P2, and P3 students, for a total of 30 students per Village. Each Team has at least one mentor, for a total of at least four mentors per Village.

Within each Village, mentors and students participate in activities and events each semester. Activities range from professional mentoring discussions to trivia contests and the Beat Bama Food Drive. Events include the annual White Coat Ceremony, the Deans’ Challenge Fitness Competition, Hargreaves’ Day, and a host of other events.

Ultimately, the HCOP organizes our social and professional activities in Villages to build upon and strengthen our sense of community.
