    Research Opportunities

Conducting research can seem like a big undertaking, but at The Harrison College of Pharmacy, students will gain experience in research by participating in innovative research studies, working under and being mentored by world-class faculty, and having the option to choose what type of research they want to do in order to further grow their interest and knowledge in a particular field.

Research opportunities are available in each of HCOP's three academic departments: Drug Discovery and Development, Health Outcomes Research and Policy, and Pharmacy Practice. Additionally, students can learn and work as part of one of HCOP's research centers or institutes, including the Center for Neuroscience Initiative; Center for Opioid Research, Education and Outreach, Center for Pharmacogenomics and Single-Cell Omics Initiative, and the Auburn-VCOM Institute for Clinical Research.

At the Harrison College of Pharmacy, students have many opportunities to collaborate with faculty members on research projects. These innovative and transformative projects vary from focuses on laboratory bench work to investigation of patient health outcomes and health policy research.

Along with bench research, opportunities are also available to work with faculty on clinical and health outcomes research.

So one of the great things about the Harrison College Pharmacy is the opportunity for PharmD students to get involved in a variety of research. All the faculty and staff here are doing exciting things in different fields. I, myself, as PharmD student have had the opportunity to work with multiple faculty members here on various research projects. I've had the opportunity to work in cutting edge pharmacogenomic work that's being instituted at the clinic here in the school to apply it to patients and real practice.

Harrison College of Pharmacy has done a great job of fostering student interaction with research mentors is highly encouraged. And together you come up with a project or you join a project they're already working on. And they make it very feasible to integrate into the curriculum that you're already working on.

Here at Auburn, I'm located in the pharmaceutical research building. It's a newly built building back in 2017. A $22.5 million building that houses our research facilities here to Harrison College of Pharmacy. The graduate school space is really nice and every professor here has specialized research area and it's really nice that you can be able to pick which lab you would like to join. Also every professor in the building are all very helpful. We can go to any one to ask questions about any research that we're doing.
